In a significant move aimed at strengthening cooperation between the district administration and the business community, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mir Raza Ozgun held a high-level meeting with a delegation of the Anjuman Tajran, led by its President Malik Muhammad Iqbal. The meeting focused on addressing various pressing issues currently faced by the city’s traders and business owners.
The delegation, comprising senior office bearers and representatives from multiple market associations, presented a comprehensive overview of the challenges affecting commercial activities in the city. The issues raised included illegal encroachments, poor sanitation conditions, traffic congestion, and various other administrative bottlenecks impacting smooth business operations.
Speaking on the occasion, President of Anjuman Tajran, Malik Muhammad Iqbal, highlighted that despite the resilience of the trader community, day-to-day challenges have been adversely affecting both business efficiency and customer experience. He urged the district administration to take swift and targeted action, particularly in curbing encroachments that obstruct public pathways and access to shops.
Deputy Commissioner Mir Raza Ozgun attentively listened to the delegation’s concerns and assured them of the administration’s full support. He emphasized that the trader community is a vital pillar of the local economy and that their legitimate issues deserve prompt and effective redressal.
“We recognize the critical role the business community plays in the economic development of the district. It is our duty to ensure a conducive, clean, and safe environment where trade and commerce can flourish without hindrance,” said DC Ozgun.
He further directed relevant departments to initiate special cleanup drives in commercial areas, take strict action against encroachments, and coordinate with traffic management authorities to devise improved traffic flow plans around major marketplaces. The DC also pledged to set up a dedicated liaison cell for traders within the district office to ensure better communication and faster resolution of issues in the future.
The members of the Anjuman Tajran delegation expressed satisfaction and optimism after the meeting. They praised the Deputy Commissioner’s cooperative attitude and proactive approach, stating that such engagement between the administration and business leaders was long overdue and extremely encouraging.
“Deputy Commissioner Mir Raza Ozgun has shown a deep understanding of our challenges and a sincere willingness to help. His assurance of immediate action has restored our confidence in the system,” said Malik Muhammad Iqbal, speaking to reporters after the meeting.
The trader leaders also expressed their willingness to cooperate with district authorities, especially in initiatives aimed at improving cleanliness, traffic management, and the overall aesthetic of commercial zones. They emphasized that a partnership-based approach between the administration and the business community can lead to sustainable improvements in urban management.
As a follow-up to the meeting, it was agreed that monthly review meetings will be held to track progress on the agreed actions and ensure ongoing dialogue between the two sides.
This meeting marks a positive step forward in bridging the gap between governance and grassroots business concerns, and is expected to lay the groundwork for a more business-friendly environment in the district.
